Semeru

Volcano number: 263300
Region: Indonesia
Country: Indonesia
Geodetic measurements? Yes
Deformation observation? No
Measurement method(s): InSAR
Duration of observation: 2006 to 2008
Inferred cause of deformation: Uncertain
Characteristics of deformation:

Philibosian and Simons (2011) conducted a regional deformation study across Java, Indonesia using InSAR. While Semeru has been erupting constantly since 1967, including the study period of Philibosian and Simons (2011),  the lack of deformation observed in InSAR images suggested that Semeru has an open-conduit steady-state system in which magma chamber pressure and volume remains fairly static.
