Following the eruption of Raung on 25 June 2015, few authors have used InSAR to investigate ground deformation of Mt Raung. Arbad et al. (2016) used two ALOS PALSAR-2 images from January 2015 and January 2016 and observed an uplift throughout the central part of the caldera while the southern part of Mt Raung shows subsidence. Febriyanti and Anjasmara (2017) used three Sentinel-1 images from June 2015, July 2015 and September 2015. They observed deflation of 12 mm and 51 mm to the north and south of caldera, respectively using the June – July interferogram pair. The next interferogram pair (July – September) however shows inflation of 4mm and deflation of 6 mm to the north and south of caldera, respectively. An earlier study by Philibosian and Simons (2011) prior to the 2015 eruption mentioned that the isolated eruptions of Raung could have been sourced from magma bodies too small, too shallow, or too deep to produce noticeable signals when they erupted and emptied. |
